The Siegel series is defined to be the local factor of the Fourier coefficient of the Siegel-Eisenstein series. This is a crucial ingredient to compare it with the local intersection multiplicity in Kudla's program.

In this talk, I will explain a reformulation of the Siegel series conceptually. I will then explain its application to mod p intersection numbers. This is based on a joint work with T. Yamauchi.
