After giving an introductory overview of the classical multiple zeta values (MZVs) , I will discuss recent joint work with Shuji Yamamoto on a new identity of MZVs which is closely related to the theory of regularizations. I shall also present the theory of finite multiple zeta values which has been developed recently with Don Zagier.
