Tensor network states have emerged as a new tool to study exotic physics in condensed matter systems. In this talk, we will discuss an example using a particular tensor network, the multiscale entanglement renormalization ansatz (MERA), to study the symmetry-protected topological order in a 1D spin chain. In addition, we will give a short introduction to a tensor library we developed in the past few years, which can generate C/C++ code and perform fundamental operations based on the structure of a given tensor network.
