Tilting is an operation that takes an abelian category to another abelian category within a fixed triangulated category, and is a technical tool used in moduli problems in representation theory as well as algebraic geometry. I will explain how a solution to a tilting problem helps solve another problem of filtering an abelian category (desired in representation theory), and how it may be related to other problems in algebraic geometry.
