Langlands functoriality conjecture is one of the most central problems in the theory of automorphic forms and representations. One successful way to accomplish the functoriality is combining Converse theorem by Cogdell and Piatetski-Shapiro, and Langlands-Shahidi method. In this talk, I'll explain why stability of gamma-factors plays a crucial role in proving certain cases of Langlands functoriality conjecture. I'll also briefly introduce the old method used to establish the stability of gamma-factors and some new progress on this problem.
