I will present a solution of the strong Lang conjecture for entire holomorphic curves for varieties with maximal quasi- Albanese dimension, hence for surfaces of log irregularity two in particular. This is an explication of a combination of my work with Winkelmann (arXiv and to appear) and my recent publication in Crelle.
