Several papers about soliton surfaces with negative curvature discuss the equivalent quasi-linear hyperbolic systems of Gauss-Codazzi equations. This paper provides other transformations of the system and introduces Hong’s construction of solution. Then, we study the geometry of the immersion and notice a new necessary and sufficient condition for a surface to be a surface of revolution by applying the solution.
