I shall discuss a Harnack type estimate for geometric heat equations that were initiated by Li and Yau. This type of estimates plays a crucial role in the proof of Poincare conjecture through the Hamilton-Perelman theory of Ricci flow. I aim to give a general talk that is accessible to a good undergraduate student. But I shall write down equations and derive estimates.
